Tailored Movement & Exercise

Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on the retraining and recruitment of the deep stabilizing muscles of the body improving posture, strength, balance and flexibility. Pilates programmes at InForm Physiotherapy & Pilates are designed to promote health, well-being and performance.

InForm Pilates specialises in offering individually tailored, semi-private and private clinical Pilates sessions to clients. Personally tailored programmes are designed by a chartered Physiotherapist and fully qualified Pilates instructor with your own goals, injuries and physical ability in mind.

At InForm Physiotherapy & Pilates, it is our mission to provide the highest quality Clinical Pilates programmes to each individual client.

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates, is adapted from the Pilates Method, by healthcare professionals to treat a range of injuries, conditions and dysfunctional movement patterns. It takes a more individualised, therapeutic approach to traditional Pilates. Clinical Pilates is used around the world to manage and improve neck and back pain, rehabilitate sporting and musculoskeletal injuries, improve core stability and balance as well as optimise sporting performance. It is also used during and after pregnancy, to prepare for birth, facilitate full recovery and provide a safe pathway back to exercise and function.

At InForm, we take an active approach to injury prevention and rehabilitation, as well as the maintenance of your health and wellbeing. All Clinical Pilates programmes are based on a full physiotherapy assessment, individually tailored, and progressed accordingly in line with your needs and goals.

Who could benefit from Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise for all ages, and all abilities. At InForm our aim is to bridge the gap between reduced movement or activity, be it from pain, injury or pregnancy, and return you safely to exercise at your desired level and intensity. It is especially beneficial for conditions such as:

What can I expect in a Clinical Pilates session?

Clinical Pilates sessions involve an initial full clinical assessment, wherein a fully tailored rehab or performance based programme is designed based around your personal goals and individual needs. We will use a combination of reformer and mat-based exercises to challenge your body and improve your movement patterns. It is a physio-led functional, progressive Pilates-based programme designed entirely around you, for you.

Reformer Pilates

The Pilates Reformer

InForm Reformer Pilates takes your clinical Pilates programme to the next level. The Pilates Reformer is a spring loaded bed that can offer more variety, support and intensity to your exercise plan. Reformer Pilates has a much greater repertoire of exercises available, that can allow your body to work through a large range of motion, in a range of positions, ideal for building and toning muscles as well increasing stability through the joints.

Pre- and Post-natal Pilates

At InForm, I believe in equipping women with the correct knowledge about the changes to their body during and after pregnancy so they feel supported and empowered to have a healthy pregnancy. Pre-natal Pilates programs are designed with the common pathologies and physical changes that occur during pregnancy in mind. With an emphasis on pelvic floor strength and endurance, exercise is prescribed and delivered to prepare your body for labour and the physical demands of being a new mum.

Prenatal Pilates are tailored to limit and manage any pregnancy-related aches and pains. Breathing techniques for relaxation, discomfort and pain management are incorporated into all exercises to further prepare you for labour. Postnatal Pilates programmes are designed to reduce and repair stomach muscle separation and tone, and provide a safe, guided pathway for new mums to return to exercise.

As well as offering a full post-natal Mummy check-up, InForm Physiotherapy & Pilates offers post-natal Pilates where baby can stay with you while you exercise. InForm is passionate about guiding women safely and effectively back to their desired level of activity and wellbeing, whether it is walking, running, weight training or simply meeting the daily demands of motherhood.

Before commencing any Clinical Pilates program, each new client will undergo an initial 60 minute assessment, where a personalised program can be developed.
